Final Draft of Advertisement
Final Draft of Advertisement
This is our final advertisement. It has changed a lot since our first draft through both the layout, text and colours incorporated.
We have decided to position the artist in the centre of the artist and used an image where she is looking out to the audience. This enables a connection to be made with the artist, for example the artist is making eye contact with the audience which is something seen very often in pop advertisements. In addition to this bright colours are stereotypical conventions seen in pop advertisements as it captures the attention of the audience. We decided to use pink and blue because this linked well with our Digipak however we decided to use a black background to create a less vibrant image. We have challenged the conventions by not using so many colours and allowing a softer more graceful image of the star. The reason for this is because the star image we created was to display the artist as an approachable, graceful person who also is a dancer so we wanted to highlight this in our work. As well as this we demonstrated its consistency with the digipak by including the neon spirals around the artist capturing her movement.

Advertisement Drafts
Magazine Advertisement Drafts
These are our first drafts of our magazine advertisement. The first displays the artist in the centre with the silhouettes behind and the text on front. This was our original design however after receiving feedback we began to make a few changes. For example where we had added the box below, it created more of a poster feeling to it. In addition the text wasn't matching.
We then made some changes to create the image below. We used a different colour for the font to make it more exciting and appealing to the audience. In addition we decided to make the silhouettes less visible by making them smaller and changing the opacity. We then deleted the black box so that the writing was clearer and less formal. This suited our pop genre conventions because the writing was attractive to the audience and catcher their attention. However we still need to develop our advertisement because the fonts are not matching.

Final Draft of DigiPak
Final Draft of DigiPak
This jpeg image highlights our final digipak product. We can changed this quite a lot after receiving feedback from our teachers. The feedback we received stated that they felt the idea worked well but some of the panels needed to be developed. They like the front cover and believed it linked well to our genre and was appropriate for our artist. They also liked the consistency with the lines which wrap around the artist. This was effective because the image displays the artist moving. However the panel with the lines around the artist needed to be softened slightly because they were too sharp which meant the idea of softness/fluidity was lost. They also felt our original idea for the bottom image didn't work and I needed to be moving more to make my top flow. Therefore we used a different photo which worked more effectively and decided to use a background with a light glowing. In addition to this I adapted the silhouettes to link into the product. I decided to use a black background and then out the silhouettes in a grey scale creating a better link with our product. I feel this looks more effective and portrays the dancers clearly. We also completely changed our back cover which was originally another silhouette. We decided to develop this by having an image of hands with the songs listed below and the lines wrapped around the fingers. To add to this we ensured we had all the smaller details such as the barcode and record label.

advertisment plan

This is the plan for our magazine advertisement. When discussing
what we would do for the advert we had decided that we were going to stick with
the same type of theme that we have used for our album cover which is the back
ground colour of back and the font colour of white so that the artists name
stands out from the rest. Also we have implemented the silhouettes which is also
linked to our album cover as we have used silhouettes in a different way on
that as well. The image of the main artist was chosen specifically as we wanted
to show that she looked free and so that she was the main attention to the
advert.
Magazine Advert
Magazine Advertisement Plan
This is our plan for our magazine advertisement in which we are highlighting the artist. We thought of our initial ideas and these included incorporating the artist and the dancer qualities into in. Therefore we began to design. Clearly we want to include a large image of the artist because that is what the audience are most interested in. Therefore we placed an image of the artist in the centre of the page because that is what the audience are drawn to and then placed the silhouettes behind the image. We decided the silhouettes should be a goldy colour because this represents expense and perhaps suggests the music is of a high standard. In addition to this we made the title bold and clear at the top of the page and then ratings at the bottom. This is important to display it is a real advertisement and make people more willing to buy it if it knows it has higher ratings.
After beginning to put this product together we felt it wasn't working correctly so have made some slight changes. For example originally we were going to have the reviews at the bottom in a box but this appeared too formal and similar to a poster. Therefore we have made the image of the artist beginning and have changed the size of the silhouettes. We have also decided to use a different image of the artist where they are moving as this results in a more engaging, welcoming image.

Advertisement Design
Advertisement Design
Above you are able to see the design which we have made for our advertisments, what we are planning on doing is having the main focus on the artist however in the background the sillouehete of our dancers, this shows that there is a clear link between the album cover and the dancers. We have also decided to put the rating of her 'Upcoming' album by using the '5 stars' as what people have reviewed it as.
To make our advertisement we have taken more images of the artist, so they are slightly different to what we see on the Album cover, however we are uncertain to what background we are going to use, this because we don't want the colours to clash. However we are aiming for the artist to be the overall main image of the advertisement.
First digi pack draft
First digi pack cover
Below you are able to see our first draft for our digi pack, I believe this is a good first draft however it is noticeable that improvements need to be made, this can be seen on the music list on the back cover, also the titles and bar codes need to be addd on to the album cover to make it seem much more realistic, lastly a place where the CD goes needs to be added on. This will hopefully then make a much more adequate and realistic digi pack for our audience. You can also see that we have stuck with the colours black and white, this is because we think it represents the artist well, however you can see that we have added more colour such as the use of the orange, pink and blue swirls around the artist, showing that our artist still is pop with the element of colours.

album cover research
Ellie Goulding - lights
The colours in this album set the theme of being bright and soft. This is from the golden sparkles which are seen as if they are falling down her hair showing that it is soft. also the artists image has a soft look to it which can relate to the songs that she sings and the way that she performs them. the lighting of this cover is bright and again soft which makes that artist stand out and she is being portrayed as a positive role model to her target audience.

Jessie J - Sweet Talker

This cover has a constant theme to it. Firstly the colour has a dark theme to it because of the use of black and grey which can suggest that the music has a dark or sad type of theme in them. also the artist clothing matches the theme also it can also suggest that she is portraying herself as being a "sex object". this is because the clothing that she is wearing is revealing and wouldn't portray her as a role model to her target audience. the title sweet talker can suggest that the songs can be about love as someone would tend to speak sweetly towards another person.

Digi pack first draft
First draft Digi pack
Here is our first draft for our Digi pack, as a first draft
we thought it was good but there are still some improvements that we need to
make. This can be from our first alignment of the tiles, they do not fit
exactly so we would need to come back to this so that it does fit. we have also stuck to a certain theme which is the colours of white and black also with the neon swirls as the overall theme for this would represent floating away and being light as a feather. so we chose as it reflects the songs and the way that the artist would act in the music video that would be produced.

Magazine advertisements
Conventions:
-Artist name
-Title of album
-Reviews
-Image of the artist
Analysis:
In the advertisement above, for Katy Perry you can see there is a lot of use of bright colours, however you can see that Katy Perry is placed in the direct centre of the advertisement, showing she the brand they're promoting, her and her music. You can also see from the costume she's wearing it's quite 'revealing' which may appear more appealing towards the male audience. There for they have purposely made her wear this to promote her music to a wider target audience.
Camera work:
You can see that there is direct eye contact with us a the audience, its a mid-long shot as we can see abover her head and towards the bottom of her legs, which gives us a full body shot of her, again this is being aimed towards the male audience.
Conventions:
- Artist name-Title of album
-Reviews
-Image of the artist
Analysis:
Above you can see the advertisment for Jessie J, firstly you can see that there is direct eye contact with the camera, showing that she is the main focus of the advertisements, with the text of her name and the name of the album below, this is a common feature of Pop artists as they need to be the main focus, especially if they are a soloist. Also the costume which is all black, links with the theme of colours on the advertisment, which is black gold and white. There for you can see a consistant theme.
Camera work:
The camera work in this advertisment, you can see that there is a direct close up of the artists face, again to show the direct eye contact on the audience, this allows them to be able to relate to the artist. However you can see that her arms have specifically placed beside her head, so that there is some form of action happening to prevent the album cover looking boring.
Conventions:
- Artist name
-Title of album
-Reviews
-Image of the artist
Analysis:
Design:
The design of the advertisement has soft ambient colours, which creates a peaceful vibe and theme. You can also see gold lights surrounding the artist herself, this is done specifically so that when someone is looking through a magazine the advertisement will stand out, and people will look at the advertisement.
Performance:
The artist is the exact centre of attention by being placed in the centre of the advertisement, however she isn't making direct eye contact with the audience, she appears to be staring off into the distance as though she is looking out to something more important. Also appearing as though she is deep in thought. You can also see her hand behind her head which shows she is relaxed an comfortable in the environment she is in.
Camera work:
In this image you are able to see a close up in the advertisement of Ellie Gouldings face, this is so that we have a clear focus on the main subject. Furthermore with the camera work we can see that there is no eye contact in direct with the camera work which is different to what we are normally used to seeing. In the image we are only able to see just abover her shoulders, again emphasising that she is the main focus.
