Construction
This post is to highlight another section we have filmed. On Thursday 27th November, we went into the dance studio and filmed the duet. This is to go at the beginning of the music video and is a duet between Molly and Charlie. We experimented with different lighting and until we got the best. We felt we wanted a very subtle colour because that would fit in with our video better. We also used the fig rig and the go pro. This provided us with the chance to get interesting shots of the dancers moving from all different angles.
I feel these shots look effective and will work with at the beginning and end of the piece. We also decided to film shots of me singing and the dance moving behind. I like this and will provide us with the opportunity to cut the most effective parts of the dancers performing and me singing.
Below displays some of the images from the filming session, displaying the different equipment we used and the dancers performing.

Second draft
Positives:
- Some positive things about our second draft is that we had a lot more locations to work on for the editing which means that we had shot that we could replace as they looked better than the one that would have been there before.
- Also because of the green screen shots we were able to use a background that we had made our own by having pastel colours that went well with our genre and style of music.
- From previous feedback we have now added some fast paced editing into our music by using jump cuts with the dancers. We have done this by using two or three different dancing scenes and cutting them so that they go in time with one another and the actual dance routine.
Negatives:
- · Some negatives about our music video are that some of the shouts are slightly out of time with the lip sync.
- · We still didn’t have all of the footage that we needed which meant that some of the sections we had to put in a different shot that went well to fit the sequence.
Ways to improve:
- · Ways that we could improve are that at the start of the sequence we need to have more shots of the artist in her hometown then during the sequence start to lead up to the city shots.
- · Another way the we could improve is that if there are shots where the dancers are out of the shots that we have filmed we shouldn’t use them and try to film it again when it is all in frame.
Second Draft
Second draft
Below you can see our second draft to our music video, you can see that we have made much more progress overall, from our previous video. This is shown where we have changed the background on the green screens, and editing further into the music video. The editing is in time however there are some areas where we have edited to fast which prevents the music video not being in time. We also need to work on the studio shots, which we have to film, as the colours seem to still be appearing purple. However as a whole music video you are able to see that we have made a lot more progress, filming wise also because we have now managed to get the shots from the field done, where we have been able to include into our music video.
To further our project, we are going to continue filming, we only have 2 more shots to do which are both in the dance studio, these shots are a duet and a solo of the artist performing, we will then be able to include them into our music video. From then on we will be able to refine our music video which means making sure everything is in sync and in time then possible effects. Which will be completed before the deadline.

Second Draft
Second Draft
This is our second draft of our music video. After receiving feedback on our first draft, we needed to make sure we only included the dancing sections when all the dancers were performing correctly as well as continue to use inventive shots. They liked the change of costumes and felt they fitted with the idea of the piece. However they feel we need to structure the video better for example show the local city first and then move into London. We also need to continue to edit to the beat of the music and complete it to the end of the music.
After reading through this feedback, we tried to take on board the key points and improve our video. Firstly we added in our new footage which was from the green screen. This provided with more variety when choosing which shots to use. We then tried to select the correct shots for the video and continue to use sharp, interesting editing. We also redefined some of the shots we used, for example only selected particular the sections of the dancing part where we were all dancing at the same time.
Even though we have made some more progress, I feel we still have lots to perfect. In some sections I feel the lip synching isn't perfect so we need to go back over that and refine it. In addition to this we need to finish filming. We need to film the duet and another section with the dancers. This is proving quite difficult as the dancers are busy at different times so we need to decide on one date and hopefully get this filmed. We can then work on displaying the story more by moving between the local and London shots.

Experimental Media Effects
This is a video I created where I experimented with different effects. This was interesting to see what different effects are available to use.
Photoshop testing
We are looking at creating our own background for the green screen shots on our music video, we are doing this through photoshop, below you are able to see screen shots of tests for backgrounds that we could possibly use or help us get an idea of what type of backgrounds we are looking for.
![]() |
| Orange with a back black background, this shows two colours, which is simple also allowing the centre of the image to be shown if we was to have the dancer placed in the centre of the screen. |
![]() |
| Black on blue, makes the image look 3D which can be effective in the music video, as the background will stand out against the artist. |

music video first draft
Positives:
- positives for our music video are that we have many different locations with the full song filmed through. there are locations such as Trafalgar square, south bank, Buckingham road kimpton park and the garages.
- another positive for our music video was that we were dedicated to go out to London to film which means that we had to be organised on meeting and traveling times.
- another positive would be that our editing was in beat with the music also the lip-syncing was also in time with the lyrics.
- some negatives with our music video is that some of the shots that we had filmed could of been filmed at a better angle so that the shot looked as best as we could get it.
- also some shot could of been added more such as the studio shots as we are going to re film those shots so that they will be the best they can be.
- ways that we could improve would be that we as a group have all if not most of our shot filmed and ready to be uploaded and to make sure that when filming that we try and use the rule of thirds more to make it look as good as we can make it.
Music video - Draft 1
Draft 1
Above you can see our first draft of our music video, good examples from this are that we managed to get most of the footage shot in a short period of time, however we need to finish off studio shots to get the full music video footage shot, you then see a variety in location use such as London to the Local area which is a general convention of music videos. You then see that weve synced up all the footage to the music so that its in time on screen. However to improve our music video first draft we could have all the footage shot, this consists of the duet in the studio, then we need to put the green screen footage in, this allows us to have more varied shots and choice to chose from. As you notice in the beginning of the music video we have placed some what random shots. this is because we havent shot the footage we need to use however we are looking to do this in the upcomming week. We then hope to have all the shots done by the end of next week so we can start editing the full video with all the footage together

Green Screen - Construction
Green Screen - Construction.
As a group we had to vary our shot types, and as part of our sequence we are planning to use the green screen, the green screen allows us to change colours on the background of our video, the colours we are thinking of using are plain simple, which then allows us to make our lead singer stand out against the background.
To set up, me Sophie and Tezel had to get the green screen out. stand it up on the poles, making sure there was no creases, to prevent the creases we put the boxes in the bottom right and left corner of the green screen. This allowed us to get the best flat surface for the green screen that we possible could.
We then went on to set the camera and lilighting, it was important that we got this all correct, so there wasn't shadows on Sophie's face, the lighting is there to make the green screen more effective, we put a light both on the left and right side of Sophie, and one on top of the camera. We then had to make sure that Sophie fitted fully on screen to make a successful green screen shot.
Lastly I think the green screen shots were successfully carried out and efficiently, this is important when making a music video. This is because if it wasn't carried out good, and we did not work on setting it up properly the overall out come wont be as good, so with the footage we shot makes it well done and gives us a good opportunity when it comes to editing.

Green Screen- Construction
For part of our music video we decided to use the green screen so this post is to highlight the reasons for this and how we are going to include it into our video.
Pop Album Research
In order to be able to create a successful pop album cover, I need to complete research on the conventions of a pop album cover. I understand that the name of both the artist and the album need to be included as well as an image relating to the artist but I wanted to look deeper into how well known artists are displaying themselves on a cover. Therefore I decided to look at Katy Perry who is major pop artist who has a wide range of audiences, below is some of the ideas I concluded from looking at her album cover.

First Draft of Music Video
First Draft
This is our first draft of our music video which provides us with the opportunity to discover what is going well in the project and what we need to improve on.
In order to put this first draft together we had to upload our footage onto the Macs and then we could edit. However we have not finished filming all of our footage yet so therefore the first draft won't be completely representing our whole music video.
When watching the first draft I feel we have got a good variety of both shots and locations. I feel this project is quite adventurous and has pushed us to create an effective video that is interesting for the viewer. When filming the dancing in London it was quite daunting as the public would stop and watch however I feel the footage has been filmed very well and looks effective in the different locations. I feel the shot in the field/park looks interesting with the lighting and really contrasts with the London location which was our main objective for the video. I believe the costume looks effective where the dancers are all in the same but I as the artist have a more colourful jacket on to indicate that I am the artist. Even though we have not been able to edit all the way through the song yet I feel the editing so far looks very good and is cut well to both the dancers movements and the beats in the music.
On the other hand I think there are many improvements that need to be made. For example where we have put the footage together with the music it is not completely in synch. Therefore when continuing to edit we need to make sure this is perfect otherwise it will result in a bad video. To add to this we need to complete all our footage because that will mean we are then able to put our video together and pick the best shots we have. We need to go to the park location and film with the dancers; we have chosen a section of the park for this and are going to complete this the week commencing 24th when the dancers are available. In addition to this we are going to perform another piece in the dance studio which will be of a contrasting style. Furthermore on Friday 21st we are going to be filming with a duet. This duet has been choreographed with the two dancers Molly and Charlie and we are going to film a variety of shots with them which can then be included in the video. When continuing to film we need to ensure we make sure all of our shots are in focus and are not shaky as well as use precise editing.
I am really interested to see the outcome of our music video and I hope we can continue to film interesting shots appropriate to our genre.

Filming in London- Construction Post
On Monday 3rd November, Casey, Tezel and I along with the dancers went up to London to begin filming for our music video. We started off at the Southbank and found a particular location which we felt would look effective for our shot and then began to rehearse the dance.
This was the first shot we filmed and feel it looks quite effective. It was quite daunting because as we were filming many people were walking past and watching us. I feel we have some good parts however some parts are slightly out of time so therefore when editing we can select the best sections.
We then decided to film some cutaways. We found a location we felt would be appropriate and decided to have the dancers run in and out the trees and then run towards the camera. The first time it was quite difficult to film because people kept walking near the camera.

To continue we then decided to change location and travel to Trafalgar Square. We felt this would be an interesting location to use and feel the shot looks effective with the fountain in the background.
We then went onto the Horse Guards parade and filmed some more. We filmed the group together and feel the background looks especially effective and then filmed me as just the artist. We also then used the fig rig to move around the dancers. I feel this looks very effective and Casey and Tezel did well to keep the camera still and not shaky.
