Album Cover

Album Cover Images

Below displays the silhouette images I created on photo shop. At first these were quite difficult to make but then I discovered how to do it and I feel I have created effective images. I believe they need a colourful background or something eye catching so I will develop these further by experimenting with different backgrounds. However when including these I need to ensure they link in with the theme.

Construction- How to make a Silhouette

How to make a silhouette This video below displays the process in which you can turn an image into a silhouette. The reason I have created a silhouette is to include on my album cover. We wanted to include dancers because they are a key part of our music video.

Album Cover

Plan of Album Cover

The image below highlights our plan for our album cover. We want to include an image of the artist on three sides, the first being her in a white top which creates quite a floating effect with a light background. In addition to this we want to include a image of the artist flicking their hair and then an image of the artist looking over their shoulder. Then the others slides will display a silhouette of the dancers. The first with the dancers in a lift with quite a pale background because we don't want to include any extremely bright colours. We will then create a panel with a mixture of silhouettes of the dancers. Finally we will have the last slide sticking with the silhouette theme with a silhouette of the London landscape with a sunset behind it. This will then list the songs below, when thinking of the names of songs we need to make sure they are slightly relevant to the album. We are thinking of calling our album 'Starting New' creating the image that she is becoming a new artist and discovering a different type of music as well as linking  to the theme of the music video we created which was called 'In My City'.

We want to keep consistency with this album cover and create quite a relaxed, soft feel to it therefore we don't want bright, bold colours.

Album cover plan

Here is a plan of what we would want our album to look like, we have used pastel type colours so that it is still linking to our music video that we had done.

Construction post - Green screen

Construction post -Green screen.

We had to use the green screen for our music video, this means setting it up. Which has been explained before. In this post you will be able to see how we incoporated the green screen into our music video, and what effect it has had. Firstly to put the green screen on, you must import the shots.

You then select the clip you want the shot to be changed (Green screen clip) You then select 'Effects' then type in "Ultra key" Which then allows you to place the effect over the clip. You then go onto 'Effect controls' and from there you select the green screen and choose a colour/pattern you want your green screen to be.

Our examples can be seen below:

Album cover research

Album cover research:

Below you can see Taylor swifts most recent album cover, called 1989 which was released in 2014. I chose to look at this specific album cover, because her genre of music is similar to ours and what we have chosen. As you can see the album cover appears vintage by use of a polaroid camera photography, showing a vintage off colour look also. You can then see half of the artists face showing a sense of mystery, however the red lipstick  adds an old fashion sense which was in the late 80's and early 90's the colour red also has connotation as a rebellious young adult. Which can then also be appealing to male audiences. The album cover also has her entails on it 'T.S' For Taylor Swift and the 'D.L.X' is for Deluxe edition of the album.  You can see from both the front cover and back colour, they have kept the original colours.

Below you can now see the 1975's album cover, their music genre is slightly different however they are an independent band. Who are similar to our artist. As you can see their album cover is two colours which is still effective, because again this is used to represent the band as their music videos are in black and white. The band name 'The 1975' is seen in light, the font used on the bands name is edgy as it stands out and is almost the brightest part of the image.

Below you can see Jessie J's album cover. As you can see she is the main focus of the album cover as you can see her face in a close up, you then see the use of colours, such as black it stands out against the back ground and shows a rebellious dark side of her. The title of her album is not clear but you can see her name in a golden font colour, which gives connotations as being 'Chav' or streetwise. This album is made to make the artist appear a specific way which a dominant female. This is portrayed by the use of dark colours. However the album cover has a much

Green Screen construction post

When filming for our music video we decided to use the green screen for some of the shots. As you can see below we had to set up the green screen so that there would be no problems when it came to filming it and then editing it. This included things such as when setting up the green screen we had to make sure that there were no creases in the green screen it self, we had to use the camera to pick up sections of the green screen that had the creases. Once this was sorted we positioned the camera where we wanted it to be and then filmed the section we had planned to film.

When we started to film with the green screen correctly set up we then decided to film different shots from different angles which would be close ups and mid shots of the artist which is Sophie. From this we had to get the placement right of the shot from this we then decided to try some close ups

Final Draft

Below you can see our final draft, the final draft is what we have submitted to the teachers. In the final music video we have changed the clips and imported the dance studio clips at the beginning and the end of the video itself, this allowed us to move other shots around and make the music video more understandable from the sequence of where she goes from the 'old city' to the 'new city' which is London. The editing has improved also, the pace of the editing has changed and it fit more to the music, which was part of our feedback from the previous week. Another consideration was the studio shots. There wasn't many shots in the studio, so we took it upon ourselves to go and film there and use the studio for our duet clip.

Overall I think that our group has made much more progress filming and editing wise, as we all had different roles and our final piece was greatly improved in comparison to ones previous.

Final Draft

From our last set feedback we took into consideration some points to help us with our editing and filming. For the editing feedback we got told that we needed more fast paced editing so when we looked at our editing that we did have we went back to some parts and edited it so that it was faster when changing the location and made it so that it had cut in time with the music’s beat.  Also for our filming we got told to have more gritty shots where the artist first lives. So we filmed parts of our music video on a bridge in a gritty area which adds to the effect of the artists first home. Also we needed more close ups of that artist in first area where she is taking in her surroundings before she leaves for the city where it will be her new home.

Throughout the stages of this I feel that our group has made great progress as we have all put a lot of effort into it. We have been very organised when it came to filming, booking the equipment and editing as have communicated with each other and got the right information that we needed

Final Draft

Final Draft

This is our final draft. I feel there are big changes from our last draft especially with the structure. We went and filmed some more footage in our local area to display the 'In my city' location. This is to highlight that the artist begins in her own city and gradually travels to the big city. We tried to display this by beginning with shots of the artist in the park, garages and bridge and then when the music says 'Rolling down the streets in my new town' we cut to the London location and the dancing shots. I feel this looks very effective and provides more of a meaning to our video in contrast to before when it was randomly cut.
We have also added in the duet at the beginning and edited the go pro shots we filmed. I feel these look very effective and provide a different aspect to the video. The use of costumes also looks effectively cutting between the different scenes. We have also tried to use faster editing in certain sections cutting between the dancing locations.

I feel to improve this we could experiment with more effects, perhaps changing the tint of colour on some of the shots. Also we need to refine the lip synching.
